ABOUT US
Rhythmos was founded by a group of students (and one fabulous mechatronic engineering lecturer, Jon Paxman, our conductor for seven years!). Their vision was to form a high-quality auditioned choir and provide musical opportunities on campus at a time when there were none.
We successfully affiliated as a Curtin Student Guild club and began rehearsals in March 2014.
Rhythmos is now known throughout the Australian choral community as one of the highest quality groups on the scene.
We number about 30 voices, and many more join us in our partner social choir, Curtin Singers. With our current conductor, Ryan Nicholson who started half-way through 2021, we are coming up with new ideas and growing as a choir.
What we do
Rhythmos Choir sings everything from choral classics to pop bangers, all using complex vocal harmony -
no instruments required.
We love performing for all kinds of audiences, and have entertained and moved hearts everywhere from the bright lights of New York to our favourite haunts around Curtin.
Why Rhythmos?
The Ancient Greek concept of rhythmos surrounds the use of symmetry, harmony and form in music, speech and dance. It unites structure with fluidity and movement.
We translate this philosophy into our own; to hold musical excellence hand in hand with showmanship and fun.
Take a trip back in time with Rhythmos, and check out our highlights from each year we’ve been singing.
